THE TELEVISION
SERIES MOCK-UPS
A
mock-up is nothing more than the storyboard that is used in cinema,
but instead of making shot by short sketches of the initial script,
with the relevant technical indications, a home video is recorded
of a series of sequences, previously worked up by the whole company,
with technical orientations and outline dialogues. Once the mock-up
is considered finished, the definitive script is written. The
aim of all this is to work out artistic and production questions
at the same time as investigating the visual language and explaining
the project to as wide a group of people as possible. The video
saves a number of interminable conversations. The method used,
which may vary slightly according to the theme of the series,
is the same as that to be used in the final production. The television
team, then, are presented with a finished series to which they
only need to give a definitive format and guarantee the technical
quality. With the mock-ups all the indications are implicit: staging,
pace, music, characters, interpretation, dialogues, spaces, locations,
costumes... It is only necessary to organise what is already organised,
bearing in mind that mistakes might have been made and the continuing
need to revise the dialogues. Everything is in place to obtain
the best results. With this procedure Albert cleverly imposes
his artistic and production criteria. And the result bears the
stamp of Els Joglars without any external filter, only ours, and
our way of working. A mock-up is nothing other than a cast-iron
guide, the intelligent flight of the eagle.
