He
was a member of the “La Gàbia” theatre company in
Vic both as an actor and assistant director.
He
has formed part of Els Joglars since 1983, acting in Teledeum
(1983), Virtuosos de Fontainebleau (1985), Bye, bye Beethoven
(1987), Yo tengo un tío en América (1991), as well as playing
the leading characters in de Columbi Lapsus
(1989), El Nacional (1993) Ubú President (1995), La
increïble història del Dr. Floit & Mr. Pla (1997) and
Daaalí (1.999).
He
has also participated in the Els Joglars television series: Som una
meravella (1988 TVE), Ya Semos Europeos (1989 TVE), Orden
Especial (1991 TVE) and ¡Vaya día! (1995 Canal Plus). As
well as in the documentary film Vidas y muertes de Buenaventura Durruti,
anarquista directed by the french film director Jean-Louis Comolli.
Together
with Els Joglars he has received various awards, outstanding amongst
which are the Critics’ Prize at the Edinburgh Festival (1992)
and the Gold Medal of Fine Arts (1999), and at a personal level he has
been awarded amongst other distinctions the Barcelona Critics’
Prize for Ubú President (1996), the Premio Max for best
male actor for La increïble història del Dr.Floit &
Mr.Pla (1998) and the National Theatre Prize for Daaalí
(2000).
Author
of the book Tres peus al gat. Diari d'un actor (Edicions 62)
in which he explains his peculiar way of working up the characters who
form La Trilogia.
He
has acted in the film Soldados de Salamina directed by David
Trueba, based on the book of the same name by Javier Cercas and in El
séptimo día by Carlos Saura, which has yet to open.
In
2002 he played the leading role in the Els Joglars film ¡Buen
viaje, Excelencia!, written and directed by Albert Boadella and
produced by Andrés Vicente Gómez for Lolafilms.
